5.2 has been removed from the Centos mirrors. You must go to the 'vault' now.

Use:
host: vault.centos.org
path: 5.2/os/i386

I've tried the netinstall for 5.4 but it fails. Keeps appending an extra "/" between the mirror site and the direcotry so the string it tries is: ftp://ftp.somesite.edu//centos/5.4/os/.../stand2.img not found.

Is this a bug in the 5.4 disto? I've triple checked that I do NOT have a leading / character in the path btw.

Netinstall fails for me. A NoMoreMirrorsRepoError exception occurs when anaconda is trying to download repodata/comps.xml.

Any ideas?

Well duu!, did you know that CentOS is a heavy Linux distribution 4.3GB unlike Ubuntu 700MB. If it's taking a long time it may be because your Internet connection happens to be slow give it more time and keep in mind this is a "network installation" meaning all the needed files are being downloaded at the same time from the CentOS Servers then installed.

Regarding the ISOs failing the media test, well that's out of my control. It seem you can't get the installation right, did you know CentOs offers a complete installation DVD no need to download a bunch of CD's.

To end my reply let me tell you that I only post about what I know and works for me. I have made this installation multiple times which means you are doing something wrong, double check please!.

<b>In a few days I will create a screen cast of the installation</b>

Did you even go through the whole installation process? or just assuem it will work after this screen? the retrieving images/stage2.img is just sitting on my screen forever. I download live 5.2 CD. during the media test, it test fail. I download from another mirror site and it fail again. I have download and burn many other iso file, fail none. I go ahead to install. The live CD require CD # 1,2,3,4, 5 no matter what package I choose(gnome only or gnome plus any other). If it require CD 1-5 for any installation why bother to check. it just wasting time to wait for the same result of different choice. It could have show at front, which ever you choose, it require CD #....) Anyway, I am so stupid to download all 6 CD because i am afraid that at the end of 5 CD, it will ask me the 6th CD. After install 1st CD, it ask 2nd CD, it say some package is missing and no matter what i choose it reboot. Again it waste me time to wait for 1st CD installation and fail miserably . This is the worst installation CD I have ever use for linux. I strongly recommend , it you don't have to use it, don't waste time. I spend three day just trying to download all CD and it keep telling me fail, fail, fail. Donation? let me think for a long while.
