Question: I can’t find the password for Root, how could you miss something so essential? Answer: By default Ubuntu has no password set for the root user, instead it makes use of Sudo. However, if you still insist on setting the password for the root user type:
sudo passwd
And enter a password for the root user. Question: The virtual machine has no connectivity to the network and the Network Interface is not present? Answer: This annoying little problem can be resolved by deleting the xx-persistent-net.rules. Issue the following command:
sudo rm /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
sudo reboot
