HostGator Account Cancellation

A word of caution for those of you who are about to cancel an account with HostGator. The process is not as straightforward as I had hoped.

Cancellation Steps:

1. First you will need to visit http://hostgator.com/cancel, where you will need to provide your billing email Address and password this creates a ticket with HostGator
2. You will receive an email confirming HostGator received the ticket, expect another email where you will be offered a free month of hosting I recommend you reply and decline the offer
3. Now you have to wait around three days with no communication from HostGator, don’t worry you should receive a final email confirming the cancellation

The cancellation process could more friendly the lack of communication over several days doesn’t help either. But overall I was a happy HostGator customer.
